Congratulations from Spain. I found your blog by very coincidence. Very good review. I really liked it and appreciate your effort. I happened to buy the Sofi stock at 18$ but i went out at 22.27$ because I couldn't understand it fully. Now it's so cheap and your report is so clear. Thanks a lot!
Happy New Year to you and your family. I would have voted for the "Wet Bandits" as your company antagonist name. Top five Christmas movie. The bank Charter will really get SOFI moving up stock wise. Traders IMO pushed it down on the federal student loan refi pause. Also I am suspicious of an acquisition by established financial behemoth. Another well done article! Best regards. ( how about some Huey Lewis and the News background soundtrack ? )
Great article as always. Glad to see one again. I thought I had accidentally unsubscribed! In terms of competitors, I note you reference Marqueta and Upstart. I own both but am just wondering, is MQ a direct competitor? I note you stated "Galileo is considered the API standard for card issuing and digital banking, offering sophisticated payment card programs and backend digital banking services." My understanding is that MQ offer issuing and acquiring which is unusual, lending some value to MQ. Presumably if SOFI plans to take over the fintech world, it could easily move into acquiring but, do you think that is likely?
Well written! Now it's up to Anthony Noto and his team to deliver. Where do you see SOFI's stock price range in 2025 if all goes well? I realize it is a loaded question but I would like to hear from you what do you think. Still not quite getting the importance of Galilieo, is it easily replicable and are the competitors building their own versions? If not then why not? Why aren't the legacy banks using Galileo? What do JPM,BAC,WF etc use? Thx
Hey Steve, tough to predict stock price, but I will say having the bank charter makes its current valuation more and more absurd. My instinct is that SoFi will breach ATH’s this year. Galileo is not easily replicable, and is the largest player of its kind. Other players build their own API’s or license software from multiple single product providers. Both routes are obviously complicated by cost and interoperability. Galileo is a huge advantage for SoFi.
Thank you for the reply, I’m not so much concerned about the stock price at the moment in this fubar market. I was just trying to assess the potential of the company 3-5 years out. I don’t think we will breach ATH this year but if we do great! I would like to be able to understand Galileo better, in your research did you come across of any Galileo patents for example? Do you know what legacy banks I mentioned use? Much obliged. 🙏🏻
Another great article and lots of information about the intricacies to the business! I didn’t realize that SOFI had so many financial service offerings and will have to look into becoming a SOFI customer. Is the IPO invest something that ready exists? This alone would be enough for me to switch over to SOFI. The bank charter approval is a great step for the longevity and profitability. I was also very intrigued to learn about Galileo and I too am interested in the parallels it’s business has to MQ.
