Who am I?

I’m Tyler Okland, Stanford physician and surgeon by day, finance writer by night.

I have published several dozen medical articles in peer-reviewed journals, and leverage this scientific background to provide the most comprehensive financial deep dives you’ll find.

My niche is the thematic fundamentals of a given business, and I like nothing more than an overblown bear case. I began writing financial analysis in 2021 and am leaning into it.

What do you get?

My articles and research are free, no paywalls or subscription fees. If you are curious about technology investments, the only fiscally responsible decision is to subscribe to my newsletter.

A subscription gets you at least one article per month delivered to your inbox (trying to bump this up to 2), as well as breaking news and updates the minute I get them. Some examples of my two most recent articles:

Palantir: On Building a Dynasty: 35k views on Seeking Alpha, Editor’s Choice, #1 Trending Article. This piece argues the seven enduring competitive advantages of Palantir’s misunderstood business.

Square: Winner Takes Most: 50k views on Seeking Alpha, Editor’s Choice, #1 Trending Article, Featured ‘Must Read’. This article delves into the sorcery behind Square’s industry leading customer acquisition costs, aspirations to become a bank, and potential pitfalls.

Palantir Is Breaking The Market: 60k views on Seeking Alpha, Editor’s Choice, #1 Trending Article on SA for three days. This article outlines Palantir’s expansion downmarket, which unlocks a massive opportunity for Foundry.

Feel free to find me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or Seeking Alpha, and never hesitate to reach out to me directly at this email address for questions, comments or concerns.

Stay curious and skeptical!
